This Blu-ray disc includes a number of extras, including 'Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) Theatrical Trailers', 'Theatrical Teaser' with commentary by director Wes Craven and creative consultant Robert Englund, 'Freddy Zeke's Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) Business End of the Dream Child' and also a collection of 'Freddy's Nightmares: Behind the Scenes' from the Dreamcatcher Entertainment website, 'The Dream Child: Visualizing Nightmares Pt. 1'. Also included is the rather useless storyboard that was made for the film, which is used in 'Creating the Nightmare on Elm Street Toys'. Note that some items have a few minor imperfections or distractions, as is to be expected of home video transfers.
If you're okay watching a horror movie that's barely constructed by a talented cast who treat it as a platform for their own brand of humorous self-parody, you'll undoubtedly enjoy 'Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)'. But if you're expecting film fans to take it seriously, then you'll be somewhat disappointed. That's a shame, as Craven's original work is a lot of fun, and his 2005 sequel is a worthy follow-up to 'Freddy vs. Jason'. It's a solid but forgettable feature film, with a few fun performances and a competent enough story. Fortunately, the Blu-ray disc they've provided includes a well-organized set of extras, including a good commentary track by Craven and Englund as well as the aforementioned 'Freddy's Nightmares' extras package that includes a few exclusive bonus features. While they definitely add some fun, they don't really give the movie a whole lot of new value. Still, the extras are worth checking out if you're a fan of the original films.
Being from a time when its digital peers were still a tad sketchy, the transfer for 'Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)', which was transferred into widescreen from the standard DV approval for theatrical presentation, appears to be the highest-quality image ever seen on a television device. The high-resolution, 3D-ified transfer displays a clear image whose natural gradation and tonal scale is impeccable. Detail virtually excels with a beautifully rendered rendition of the film. d2c66b5586
