The equipment for Rolle Bolle is simple; just an 8-pound metal "bolles" and a plexiglass marker. The teams consist of one to seven players standing in a depth of 10-15 feet behind a starting line. The starting line is usually staked in the ground and located 30 feet out from each other perpendicular to the sideline.
Players alternate positions one round at a time. The objective of the game of Rolle Bolle is to roll a bolle as close as possible to a stake in the ground. The initial bolle is marked by a plexiglass marker. Teams must enter on the same side of the starting line as the jack, then alternate calling out positions when the bolle is rolled. The players take it in turns to call out the team they wish to pass to. When a team calls out the number, the opposing team must pass them the stone. On the third call, the player passes the stone. The opposing team has the last stone.
The Commissioners Cup is a bi-annual rolle bolle tourney open to qualifying teams from around the country. Following last year's tournament, the Canadian Rolle Bolle Association was formed. They hope to host a Canadian Rolle Bolle Champs in 2010.
