I've been trying to fix this problem for a while now and have been looking at forums and other stuff. Tried lots of things and not much has helped. I've been asking around and some people said that this is a known issue with Origin that can't be fixed unless you uninstall Origin.
So, unfortunately, I wasn't able to get Origin to work properly this time around. The good news is that you weren't the only one! I did some searching and found out that many other people have experienced this problem. I think that I've reproduced the problem with your specific problem (the Sims 4 install was on D: drive, the Origin install was on E: drive, it was freezing every time it tried to update, and it wasn't working well when run from D: drive).
I'm having a similar issue here. I downloaded the Sims 4 as a.package file on Nov 11th and tried to install it two weeks later. It worked fine but then I tried installing an expansion pack called Diamond City and it froze, so I had to power off. I tried to download the Sims 4 this past week and it downloaded but when I tried to install it, it freezes after about a minute or less. I've gone through the troubleshooting steps here in the past and they worked but now it's crashing. I have cleaned the cache and I have also put Origin back to its previous settings and tried to reinstall but it doesn't work. Do you have any advice? Thanks!
