Child's Play is the first installment in the Child's Play series of horror films. It is the first film in the series, and is also the first film to feature the game-changing killer character, Chucky. On the night of his 16th birthday, Andy arrives home to find the doll gone, and his son Brian gone too, but shortly after coming home, Andy is brutally murdered by a homicidal maniac who was into murdering people who paid no consideration to killing toy dolls.

Released in North America on November 9, 1988, the film entered the home video market, and this is the only horror film with the tagline "They say you die by eight, but I'm going to keep coming back" and featured the alias that was first used in the original film and the return of the Good Guy "Chucky". The film was released worldwide and received widespread critical acclaim and garnered a cult following.
