Child's Play is the first installment in the Child's Play series of horror films. It is the first film in the series, and is also the first film to feature the game-changing killer character, Chucky. Set in fictitious Lambert City, a community near Detroit in 1988, the film tells the story of Andy Barclay, a single father, who receives a Good Guy doll from his son on his 15th birthday and keeps it in his home. On the night of his 16th birthday, Andy arrives home to find the doll gone, and his son Brian gone too, but shortly after coming home, Andy is brutally murdered by a homicidal maniac who was into murdering people who paid no consideration to killing toy dolls.

The film was released worldwide and received widespread critical acclaim and garnered a cult following.
