As of patch 3.3, fishing nets are obsolete. They no longer need to be repaired with Silver, and experience awarded on them will now be a permanent addition to your total fishing skill, regardless of the net's durability. Also, you can now add any fishing skill you gain to any existing fishing nets that are equipped, even if the item is obtained from a socketed fishing skill item like the Hard Nef's Soul.
For those without a fishing pole on the account, I can attest that fishing is not as easy as it may seem. There is much more to it than simply putting a bait on the hook, reeling it in and waiting for something to bite. If you are going to be competitive at fishing, you need the following. A) Know your species -- the more you know about what you are fishing for, the better you can cast the best bait and the juicier the bite. Some fishes are more difficult than others, but most fish in endgame content can be captured with a skilled cast. B) Know your fishing equipment -- You need to know the differences between the different types of baits, hooks and sinkers, how you need to string it and how to form a hook, but most importantly, you need to know what your limits of effort are. Remember that re-casting your bait twice a second or more means little more than wasting time and your bait. C) Learn the strategies for fishing. Your success at fishing is directly correlated to how much effort you devote to it; you should be able to adjust your strategy and tactics based on both environmental and personal needs. D) Make sure you have the right bait -- The right bait can make a difference between getting a few fish and not getting a fish at all because you wasted bait. E) Identify and focus your efforts -- It is better to fish close to the edge of an ocean or lake or next to the high reverb area of a valley stream where fish can hide behind the sound than at the center of a lake or ocean. F) Be patient -- You can't catch a fish if you don't give them time to bite. Often I'll set up better bait with a can or bucket rather than directly on the water's surface. d2c66b5586
