Players will earn XP throughout the build, culminating in the event of skills that are unlocked during construction. These can range from combining resources to completing certain contracts, upgrading vehicles with new parts, or additional features, such as the Terrible T-Rex. Players may also interact with the appearance of dinosaurs in the game, varying from simple patrolling to new attacks and special events.
Day & Night cycles are a core aspect of the game, as is fog occlusion. Apart from the lack of a masterful implementation of day & night, the game lacks even the most basic visual effects, such as transition effects when drilling underground. Running away from dinosaurs, the old-school sounds of digging, and other experiences during the day, are all missing from the build.
The use of characters remains downplayed, even on the tour screens. To a player visiting a site, the only identifiable faces will be the ranger and players buildings visitors, making the use of any park ranger a relatively unimportant part of the experience.
Ironically, compared to many other sandbox builders, the only missing element of the game is anything puzzle related. Aside from the lack of a heist mechanic, the Park Tour does not offer any driving puzzles, said puzzles being a core component of these other sandbox games.
Apart from the dinosaur attacks and other new events, a number of items have now completed missing animations, including the T-Rex, the Lava Tamer, and the guards. These are all welcome additions. d2c66b5586
