Threshold bars or t-bar door thresholds are wooden or metal strips that go in the expansion gaps between two floors. Their purpose is to provide level and soft passage between two different types of floors.
It is important to match the finish and colour of the wooden door thresholds with your flooring. Choose your wooden door threshold strips based on the type of aesthetics you want for your home. Should it be oak threshold strips or something else? Note that the oak colour is somewhat a light beige to brown.
Laminate flooring threshold strips help make the tile to laminate transition easier. Yes, you can join a laminate floor to a tile floor. Keep in mind that tile floors are usually higher than laminate floors. Generally, you can use wooden threshold strips with offset grooves that match the difference in thickness.
Before starting, make sure you have some measuring tape, a hack saw, or wood saw. Moreover, you should clear the concrete subfloor in the expansion gap (where the threshold is to be laid) from any debris.
You want to install the laminate threshold exactly underneath the door, like in our example above. Use a laminate T-bar that matches your flooring. The rest of the process is pretty straightforward if your floors are installed correctly.
This transition also implies a change in height. Generally, a metal carpet threshold is used. Its primary role is to secure the carpet edges into place. Moreover, it should offer a transition ramp for easy traffic.
Typically, these threshold bars have the role of equalising all your flooring, providing easy traffic and a smooth overall experience. As you can see, there are a plethora of T-bar door thresholds, strips and bars for the different types of flooring out there.
Most of us know that if you have carpets fitted then you require carpet threshold strips across the doorways to join them up. But, does it matter which ones? Well yes, it is certainly worth doing your homework, very much like you would when you choose a new carpet. Looks, quality and durability can all vary considerably, depending on the design of carpet door bars you opt for.
If you are joining carpet to another carpet, then you will need an integral needled base strip either side of the threshold strip; these are hidden from view and hold the carpet under tension from underneath the carpet which avoids rucks and helps ensure a professional, smart appearance. It also needs to have a notched vertical, central support, which means you can gently depress the carpet bar into the pile of the carpet for a smooth transition.
Do carefully measure the width of your doorway before ordering rather than assume the standard 900mm long option will work. Doorway dimensions vary significantly house to house. Likewise, if your carpets are already fitted and you are retrospectively replacing the carpet threshold strips then check how wide they need to be to cover any gap between the two carpets, allowing for any worn edges.
Many people dislike the utilitarian, ridged appearance of some cheaper, traditional door thresholds, which typically are available at the DIY sheds and supplied as standard by fitters. In contrast, a smooth, solid surface is appealing in its simplicity and creates a luxury look to off-set any carpet design or colour of carpet.

When installing new floors, we often face the problem of uncomfortable joints, surface unevenness, the necessity of expansion joints or stairs. It sometimes happens that a bad combination of floors made of various materials, e.g. panels and carpeting, completely spoils the visual effect. Bearing in mind that the devil lies in details and sometimes small factors can determine whether the whole interior deserves recognition, it is worth reaching for proven solutions. The Arbiton brand is offering to its customers a solution to these problems by offering a series of floor profiles. Floor profiles are also called threshold strips, expansion profiles, or transition profiles.
We know that not everyone has to have technical skills, so we decided to explain in a simple way what the floor profiles really are. Well, we like to think that this is the silent hero of every floor. They are not conspicuous, and yet it is largely thanks to them that we obtain a beautiful-looking, aesthetic floor, which is one of the main elements of any interior arrangement. In fact, a smooth connection of the floor area of several or a dozen rooms is possible thanks to minimalistic threshold strips, which are nothing else but floor profiles. Of course, their range of possibilities is much greater, but more on that in a moment. However, it is worth mentioning the installation of the profile, which is very simple, which also contributes to the continuous increase in the popularity of this solution.
Color System - this line of floor profiles consists of four universal shapes available in thirty four colors. So if you care about the perfect color matching of the profiles and the floor, you are in the right place. Now that the aesthetic issues are behind us, it's time for functionality. The proposed profiles can be used as dilatation profiles, leveling threshold and finishing profiles. To make their installation as easy as possible, we have equipped them with a self-adhesive and waterproof tape, thanks to which you will deal with it in a short time.
