In this arc, Tanjiro and his friends head to the Swordsmith Village, where they meet the craftsmen who forge their blades. In the Swordsmith Village Arc, Tanjiro and his friends are sent to the village by Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, to get their swords repaired and upgraded. They are welcomed by Hotaru Haganezuka, Tanjiro's swordsmith, and Kozo Kanamori, Inosuke's swordsmith. They also meet Tetsu, a young apprentice who admires Tanjiro, and Kotetsu, a mischievous boy who likes to prank Zenitsu. However, their peaceful stay is interrupted by the arrival of two Upper Ranks: Gyokko and Hantengu. Gyokko is a sadistic demon who uses pottery and blood to create deadly creatures. Hantengu is a cowardly demon who can split into different emotions, each with a different power. They attack the village with the intention of killing the swordsmiths and destroying their swords.
Tanjiro and his friends team up with some of the Hashira to fight the invaders. Tanjiro faces off against Gyokko, who mocks him for his compassion towards demons. Tanjiro manages to overcome Gyokko's traps and techniques, and defeats him with his Dance of the Fire God. Meanwhile, Inosuke battles against Zohakuten, Hantengu's anger emotion, who uses lightning attacks. Inosuke uses his Beast Breathing to dodge and counter Zohakuten's strikes, and cuts off his head. Zenitsu confronts Karaku, Hantengu's fear emotion, who uses sound waves to paralyze his opponents. Zenitsu uses his Thunder Breathing to overcome his own fear, and slays Karaku with his Seventh Form: Flaming Thunder God. Kanao joins the fight against Sekido, Hantengu's hatred emotion, who uses fireballs and explosions. Kanao uses her Flower Breathing to evade and deflect Sekido's attacks, and kills him with her Final Form: Equinoctial Vermilion Eye.
However, the battle is not over yet. Hantengu's main body emerges from his severed head, and reveals his true form: a giant baby-like demon with four arms. He unleashes a powerful blast that destroys most of the village, and injures Tanjiro and his friends. He then tries to escape by flying away, but he is intercepted by Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira. Muichiro uses his Mist Breathing to cut through Hantengu's defenses, and delivers a fatal blow to his heart. As Hantengu dies, he curses Muichiro and Tanjiro for their resemblance to Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the first Demon Slayer who wounded Muzan centuries ago.
